The U.S. State Department officially announced it will reject TransCanada’s proposed Keystone pipeline, according to tweets from Bloomberg journalist John Hughes. The State noted that it doesn’t have time “to assess whether the project, in its current state, is in the national interest,” Hughes writes. The statement likely refers to a 60-day deadline that Congress imposed in December for State Department officials to asses whether the planned pipeline is in the U.S.’s national interest.
