With 25 gold medals and counting — not to mention the Queen and James Bond parachuting into the Olympic Stadium — the Games are sure to have sent Britain on a collective high. But as London 2012 winds down this Sunday, reality will kick in. The recession. The LIBOR scandal. The euro mess. And to top that a massive Olympic bill to pay.

The folks at the Canadian International Council have put together a very cool infographic that details the cost of London 2012 and compares it with that of previous editions of the Games. (Also, they have this great series on the politics of sport, make sure to check it out.) In a nutshell? It was one heck of an expensive party:
