OSHAWA, Ont. – An Oshawa, Ont., man is facing a serious charge for allegedly forwarding nude and pornographic cellphone pictures from his former girlfriend to her friends, family and co-workers.
Investigators say a 46-year-old man received the images during a “sexting” exchange when the pair were dating two years ago.
The relationship fell apart earlier this year, and investigators allege the man sent the photos by text message and email last month to people his ex knew, leading to ridicule and embarrassment.
Police have charged the man with defamatory libel, which is punishable by up to five years in prison on conviction.
Police are not naming the accused to protect the victim’s identity.
Investigators are reminding the public to think twice about sharing kinky photos via cellphone or social media.
