Internship Information

One-year internships

The one-year  internship contract positions begin in May at a rate of $22,500 annually.  Interns are fulltime entry-level journalists who attend story meetings and  pitch ideas for publication along with other members of the editorial staff,  as well as research, report and write stories for the print magazine and the  website. Interns are expected to contribute to larger efforts such as special  projects and cover articles. Maclean’s will begin accepting applications for  internship positions beginning in January by mail.

Ann MacGregor memorial internships in the  summer

Maclean’s offers a three-month summer internship program. It is  open to anyone interested in journalism, but prioritizes those who are  entering their final year of postsecondary study. The intern works within the  editorial department, writing stories and contributing files to other writers  as needed.

The two Ann MacGregor memorial internships pay $1,750 a  month, for the months of June, July and August. A five-day Monday-to-Friday  work week is expected.

For all other internship opportunities at Maclean’s, please  mail or fax a cover letter that includes the timing of your internship  request, resumé (including references and their contact information) and four  samples of published works (not opinion pieces). Should you wish to apply for both the year-long internship program and the Ann MacGregor memorial internship, please submit one application, but in your cover letter, please indicate you would like to be considered for both.
