So, did y'all have fun last night?

I know we did — and yes, as far as I know, we’ll be doing it all over again during the English language debates tonight, although this time, I won’t be hovering over Colleague Wherry’s shoulder in the media room, but will be glued to a different screen, surrounded by various and sundry Hill-ites and political junkies at a debate-watching party hosted by the Public Policy Forum. Oh, and I’m also going to be back outside the NAC for Sign War II, although this time, I’m bringing mittens, and possibly a flask of hot chocolate.

In the meantime, though, I wanted to give y’all a heads up that I may be slightly tardy with today’s Ekos numbers, since I’m heading to federal court to see Democracy Watch in action. I don’t know if I’ll be able to liveblog it, but I’ll do my best to report back as soon as I’m able to do so. I’ll set up an openish thread, though, so as give commenters someplace to chat about the numbers.

  • More more more meta

Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communications has a blog devoted exclusively to how the media cover the election. So you vote; politicians try to influence it; journalists cover the politicians; and the Carleton crew blogs about the journalists. Now that‘s meta!!!

But it’s an A-team: Jeff Sallot, late of the Globe; Chris Waddell of long service at the Globe and the CBC; and Paul Adams, who worked for many years at the CBC and the Globe and whose humour we all miss on campaign tours. (Early in the 1997 campaign I watched Jean Chrétien poke his head out of a train car in Montreal for a photo op. “Incredibly, this is the high point of my career,” I said, bored speechless. “I’m not surprised,” Paul replied.)

  • ITQ Open Thread: GiornoWatch, Tale of the Tape, Khadr, Green Shift … you know, whatever

A few quick notes before heading off to the Hill for the first day of the Ethics committee investigation into the Conservative election advertising expense scandal:

    • GiornoWatch will return – as a nooner, or an afterhours evening edition, depending on how the day unfolds
    • Yes, ITQ is all too aware that the Tale of the Tape continues to unspool at a dizzying rate, and has big plans for a comprehensive roundup post covering all the most recent developments  — just as soon as we have a moment to figure out what it all means.

Anyway, as previously noted, ITQ will be spending most of the day in the Railway Room (or is it the Reading Room? I always get them mixed up) where she hopes to nab a front-row seat for today’s committee festivities. Readers who aren’t quite as mesmerized as ITQ by the in and out goings-on, however, are welcome to use this as an open thread to trade horrified reaction and off the cuff conspiracy theories on other breaking – and simmering – stories.
